Schools out for Summer - visit SS Great Britain for a top Bristol Family Day Out

With six long weeks of the summer holidays to fill we have put together a list of days out with the kids. Top of the list is a return visit to the SS Great Britain, the world's first great ocean liner which is 175 this year! It's Bristol's no.1 attraction and one of the UK's top ten museums. As a Bristolian I remember a couple of school trips there and projects on Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

We were lucky enough to visit in the Easter holidays as part of the celebration of the new Being Brunel exhibition thanks to Bristol Bloggers. At ages 6 and 3 I wondered if my two would be too young for a historical attraction but there was loads to keep them entertained. The museum was really interactive and accessible for all ages with plenty for the little 'uns to get involved in. They loved stepping aboard and exploring the ship. The Boy in particular was impressed by Brunel's achievements and learning more about the engineer and The Girl of course loved playing dress up.

It was a full on family day and we didn't get round to see all of it so definitely need to return this summer.
